| Music is an integral part of any child's education. It develops abstract thinking, hand-eye co-ordination, self-expression, listening skills, and self-confidence. There is a lot of hard work involved in learning to play well, but the rewards are many: self-esteem, intellectual growth and maturity, perseverance toward a long-term goal, joy, pride, and satisfaction with a job well done. It brings confidence, self-assurance, self-discipline... and also a great deal of pleasure. My goal is to cultivate in my students a sincere and enduring love of music, and a thorough understanding of music in a variety of styles, while developing technical and practical piano skills. I have developed what I believe to be a unique piano program, combining the benefits of the traditional Canadian conservatory exam system with the advantages of a Unit Study program.
